Being injured has given me time to think, reflect, and watch TV. I didn't realize how little TV I watched outside the news until I became stuck in the house. I've found 'Genius MKL/X' on Disney Plus particularly interesting. I grew up hearing stories about how my family drank from Black-only water foundations, went to Black-only schools, anddidnot go to town after dark. My father is still traumatized from the KKK burning a cross on his lawn when he was a child. The stories of life for Black Americans before and after the Civil Rights movement have always been a part of me. I've made it a point to read widely about African American studies. Therefore, I was surprised that Disney provided me with unknown details about Martin Luther King Junior and Malcolm X, which has given me a different perspective on the Civil Rights movement. 'Genius MLK/X' has shown me that many times, people who are intimately involved in a struggle or human rights movement can sometimes overlook critical pieces of history that can help provide them with a fresh perspective and new way to view an ongoing conflict. While shifting my thought from the Civil Rights movement to Israel and Palestine, I began to think that if everyone could look at the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict from an unbiased and objective lens, we could find the common ground needed to forge a peaceful future. My Middle East Objective Analysis series includes facts many have never heard and is an excellent read for anyone interested in the objective history of Israel and Palestine.#Israel#Palestine#MiddleEast#ObjectiveAnalysis#CivilRightsMovement#MLK#MalcolmX#DisneyPlus

How do you future proof your organization? One of the most challenging aspects of addressing workplace inequity is acknowledging that while individuals may not harbor racist intentions, institutions can inadvertently perpetuate bias. This often manifests through a phenomenon known as homosocial reproduction, wherein decision-makers, driven by implicit biases, tend to hire individuals who mirror their own image and background. In organizations grappling with systemic racism, even well-intentioned supervisors, managers, or directors may find themselves struggling against the current. The battle for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is not solely about countering explicit discrimination; it’s about dismantling these subtler, entrenched systems that lack balance. Real change necessitates a top-down approach, where leadership—specifically at the C-Suite and board levels—empowers VPs, directors, and senior managers to actively foster diversity.DEI is not a synonym for reverse racism; it’s a strategy for equilibrium. It’s about enriching our problem-solving capacity by ensuring a multitude of perspectives are at the table, especially when addressing complex, multifaceted issues that defy homogenous thinking. Diversity in the workforce isn’t just a moral imperative; it’s a strategic one. Organizations that fail to recognize this are at risk of obsolescence, much like Kmart or Montgomery Ward. In the dynamic landscape of modern business, diversity is not just about fairness—it’s about future-proofing your organization and ensuring that it remains relevant, resilient, and capable of innovation in an increasingly complex world.

Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. This alarming trend not only destroys the natural habitats of countless species but also contributes to climate change, soil erosion, and the disruption of vital water cycles. It's time we take action to protect and restore our precious forests and oceans and finally Earth before it's too late.NATO or other Organizations are also responsible for protecting our forests and oceans and all humanity with peace . One of my favorite videos! This short video provides such a clear message around empathy (and how it differs from sympathy). It really changed the way I thought about and intentionally practice empathy.Highly recommend giving it a watch!

Have you seen the RSA short on empathy based on a talk by Brené Brown? It’s a gem and now 10 years old already. Find the link to watch it below! 🤩 And we wonder if this video will sneak its way into our full Dare to LeadTM program this Fall 2024! Empathy and empathy misses, as well as self-compassion with yourself, certainly have an important place in the curriculum and as skill sets for brave leaders. #daringleadership #empathy #courage #caring
