Bernotas, 84, of South Windsor, died Wednesday, (October 23, 2002) at West Haven Veteran's Hospital. Born on October 31, 1917, son of the late George and Elizabeth Bernotas, he had lived in South Windsor for the last 44 years. Before retiring in 1977, he was a foreman for Pratt Whitney Aircraft for 28 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War Il and was a member and treasurer of the Disabled American Veteran's Chapter 4 of South Windsor.
He actively volunteered to drive other veterans to area veteran's hospitals. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Madott of Tolland; two grandchildren, Heidi Ann Manchuck and Melissa Anne Manchuck, both of Tolland; his companion, Irene Hindley of South Windsor and Patricia's mother, Beatrice T. (Waslaski) Bernotas of Waterbury. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Stanley Bernotas; and a sonin-law, Charles F. Madott.
Family and friends may gather Monday, 9:15 a.m., at the Samsel Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Margaret Mary Church. Blanchette, died Wednesday, (October 23, 2002) at Bristol Hospital. Born in Collinsville on May 24, 1942, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Bertha (Couture) LeBelle, she lived in Unionville for many years. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Theresa Colaneri of Bristol; three sons, Roy U. Blanchette, Il of South Hampton, England, Tim Blanchette and Michael Blanchette, both of Unionville; a brother and sister-inlaw, Louis and Lois LeBelle, both of Burlington; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Jeannette Valle of Southington, Dorothy and Jack Fioretti, both of Newington, Claire Dlubac of Unionville, and Mary Blanchette of Collinsville; four grandchildren, Alyssa Blanchette, Rebecca Blanchette, Matthew Blanchette and James Blanchette; and several nieces and nephews.

Morris Borstein, 84, of West Hartford, died Thursday (October 24, 2002). Morris Borstein was born in Hartford, 1918 and resided in the area throughout his life. He graduated from Trinity Col1941. his many friends, his customers and all whom he touched with his friendly manner will miss him and remember him with fondness. Moe, as he was commonly called, was the first in his family to attend college.
He was proud of the fact and often told stories of his struggles to earn enough money and to obtain the scholarships he needed to graduate. In recent years, he was often seen sporting his cap with the logo, "Trinity College Class of 1941." During World War II, Moe was a captain in the Air Force teaching fighter pilots to fly. Upon his discharge in 1946, he entered the food industry, first as a salesman, then as the proprietor of the Kingswood Market, which he ran for 44 years, the last 26 with his son, David. As a business owner, he sponsored numerous youth sports teams and was honored with induction into the Jewish Sportsmen Hall of Fame in 1995. He was a supporter of the arts in Hartford and a member of the Regents Men's Club and a Brother in the Knights of Pythias.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Enid Brooks Borstein; his daughters, Elena and husband, lain, and Susan and husband, Michael; his son, David and wife, Agneta; as well as two grandchildren, Kristina and Alberto. Fazzina, 72, of Cook Hill S. Killingly, passed away Wednesday (October 23, 2002). He was born in Hartford on May 11, 1930, the son of the late Gaetano and Mary (Vassalo) Fazzina. He was married to Dorothy (Hartley) Fazzina, who survives him. Mr.
Fazzina, a graduate of Buckeley High School in Hartford, served in the Navy during the Korean War and worked for Electric Boat as an Electronics Supervisor for 33 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council and was a previous coach of Little League baseball for many years. He was one of the founding members of the Killingly Youth Football League. as he was known to all, enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, cooking, and following the UCONN women's basketball team. Besides his wife, Mr.
Fazzina is survived by his sister, Marion Cianci, of Wethersfield; his sons and their wives, Richard and Kerry of Attleboro, MA, Scott and Kristina of Storrs and Kevin and Katrina of Killingly. Forbes, 86, of Wil- GAYDOS, Ruth Amelia (Robrecht) Ruth Amelia (Robrecht) Gaydos, 85, of Avery Heights, Hartford passed to a more peaceful place on Wednesday, (October 23, 2002) at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by the love of her children and her friends. Ruth was born to the late Frederick and Amelia (Maul) Robrecht Rodgers on January 11, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to Rahway, married Joseph Gaydos in 1940, and moved to Colonia, NJ where they raised their family.
She was a former member of the Rahway Women's Choral Club and the New Jersey Bell Telephone Choral Society. Ruth retired from the Woodbridge (NJ) Public Library maintaining a lifelong love of reading. She was an accomplished artist and pianist, enjoying the solitary pursuit of crosswords and the social pursuit of playing cards and Scrabble. She was predeceased by her brothers Frederick and Harold Robrecht, and her husband Joseph. She leaves her loving daughter Linda and her husband Albert Harmon of Marlborough; her son Jeffrey Gaydos and his wife Joyce of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; and her granddaughters Abby and Molly Sun Gaydos.

Dora, FL, after a long battle with lymphoma. Mr. Grant was a noted technology pioneer and sailor.
Mr. Grant, the son of Howard P. Grant Sr. and Halcyone Van Doren Wright, was born in Medford, MA in 1925. A graduate of Winthrop High School, he earned a B.S.
in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, then obtained an M.S. in Mechanic Engineering from Harvard University. He cofounded one of the region's first high-tech firms, Flow Corporation (later CGS Scientific then Datametrics) which developed and produced technology used to measure fluid flow in specialized environments such as wind tunnels. In 1974, he joined Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford where he developed and applied technology to test and certify turbine engines. Mr.
Grant published numerous technical and scientific papers which he presented at national and international conferences. Following his 1989 retirement, he joined a research project at Mystic Seaport to develop new ways of handicapping oceanracing sailing vessels. Mr. Grant was an avid and formidable sailor, owning and racing a series of sailboats throughout his life. During World War II, he served in the U.S.
Navy. He was a long-time member of the Winthrop Yacht Club and the Winchester Boat Club. He was also an enthusiastic musician with a passion for Bach, an eclectic reader and a proficient amateur astronomer. Mr. Grant is survived by his beloved wife of almost 53 years, Marion (Beaton) of Mt.
Dora, FL; his brother, David of S. Groveland, MA; his eight children, Nancy of Fairfax, VA, Dorothy (Murray) Cotton of Kingston, Ontario, Janet of Mt. The only daughter of George and Lorraine (Dean) Davidson, she was born in Cambridge, MA, February 13, 1962. She attended Lexington, MA and Bedford, MA. Public schools, graduating in 1980 from Bedford High School as a member of the National Honor Society, American Field Service and various sports activities. She traveled extensively throughout Europe spending summers in Germany with AFS; attending University of Salzburg; as well as personal trips with close lifelong friends. She graduated from the University of in 1984.
In 1994 she enrolled in Capital Community Technical College, School of Nursing, in Hartford, graduating Magna cum Laude in 1996. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Diagnosed with breast cancer in late 1995, she went on to complete her nursing degree and worked in the North 10 Cardiac Care Unit of Hartford Hospital. She was a most dedicated nurse with a love for all things living. She leaves legacy of a loving spirit, a kind and caring nature, a delightful sense of humor and a passionate enjoyment of life and living.
She touched all of us with her sensitivity and love. In addition to her husband and daughter, Laurel is survived by her mother, Lorraine D. Phoenix and Clement Nickerson of Brunswick, ME; her father and step mother, George and Ann Davidson of Watertown, MA; and two brothers, Dana G. Davidson and his family of Barrington, RI, and Evan J. She was born in Stafford Springs, the daughter of the late Jacob and Zofia (Zigmond) Jellen. Helen was a retired manager for the Workers' Federal Credit Union.
She was a member of St. Edward Parish, first woman lector of St. Edward Parish, a member of Court Isabella Catholic Daughters of America, St. Edward Ladies Guild, past president 4th District American Legion Auxiliary, a member of Strazza, Tonoli-Emhoff Post 26 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Stafford Senior Center. Helen is survived by a sister, Mary Wrisley, of Stafford Springs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by six brothers Jacob, Joseph, Michael, Julius, Stephen, and John. Funeral will be held Saturday, October 26, 10 a.m., at Introvigne Funeral Home, 51 East Main Street, Stafford Springs, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at St. Edward Church, High Street, Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs.

Stacia E. (Mackiewicz) Monnacio, 86, of East Hartford, died Tuesday, (October 22, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Stacia was born February 17, 1916 in North Hampton, MA, the daughter of the late John and Hel(Brzozowska) Mackiewicz. She lived in East Hartford most of her life and was a retired securities clerk for Hartford National Bank.
She was a communicant of St. Rose Catholic Church. Stacia is survived by a son and daughter-inlaw, Joseph and Maria Monnacio; granddaughter, Ana-Maria and her husband Wayne Larson of Clifton, VA; great granddaughter, Megan Nicole Larson of Clifton, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 8:15 a.m., from the Newkirk Whitney Funeral Home. 318 Burnside East Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m., at St.
